IPL 2026: Massive honour awaits Suryakumar Yadav ahead of MI vs RCB clash
The T20 World Cup 2026 winning captain of the Indian side, Suryakumar Yadav, is going to receive a massive honour ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 clash between RCB and MI.

The Mumbai Indians (MI), since their opening victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, have gone winless for two successive contests. They lost both away fixtures against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to find themselves in seventh position of the points table.
The Hardik Pandya-led side will be up against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 12 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They need better execution in the bowling department after their bowlers were parked around the ground in the previous game. Moreover, their opposition came on the back of two consecutive wins.
Maharashtra CM to honour Suryakumar Yadav at Wankhede Stadium
The Wankhede Stadium is all set to host a massive ceremony for the former Indian player, Ravi Shastri, as he will have a stand named after him at the iconic venue. But the ceremony will be equally special for Suryakumar Yadav, who won the T20 World Cup 2026 as the leader, beating New Zealand in the final.
The Level 1 stand beneath the press box will officially be named the ‘Ravi Shastri Stand’, which recognizes his immense contributions to the game as a player, captain, and coach. But the event will also mark a special moment for Sky, who will be felicitated by the Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis, for his contribution to the trophy.
Under his captaincy, the blue brigade lifted its second back-to-back title. Even the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will pay tribute to the other Mumbai stalwarts apart from Sky and Shastri. Gate number three will be named after Dilip Sardesai, while the number five and six gates will be named after Diana Edulji and Eknath Solkar.
Mumbai Indians make heartbreaking IPL 2026 start
When the opening partnership of Mumbai side, between Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, posted 148 runs in 11.5 overs, with the former adding 78 runs in 38 balls at a strike rate of 205.36 while the South African batter clubbed 81 runs in 43 balls at a strike rate of 188.37, against KKR, it was dreamt to be a strong start for the franchise.
But a week later, they fell flat on the ground. Their batting struggled on the slow surface in Delhi against the Capitals in the afternoon. Subsequently, they couldn’t put in a balanced bowling performance in the 11-over clash against the Royals.
Hardik Pandya put the entire loss on their bowling and hoped for a strong comeback against RCB at home.
