The Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings (KKR vs PBKS) match has been scheduled for the 12th game of the IPL 2026, which is set to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday night (April 6). While Kolkata is hosting its second game of the season, KKR and PBKS are both playing their third game of the tournament. 

The three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have started the season with two consecutive defeats. Starting the season with an away loss against the hosts Mumbai Indians by six wickets, as the five-time IPL winners chased down the 221-run target in 19.1 overs after losing four wickets, KKR also lost their first home game of the season, where SunRisers Hyderabad thrashed them by 65 runs after scoring 226/8. 

On the other hand, Punjab Kings started the IPL 2026 in the opposite way by winning their first two matches of the season. They started the season with a three-wicket win against Gujarat Titans in New Chandigarh by three wickets, where PBKS chased down the 163-run target in 19.1 overs. Then, they defeated the hosts Chennai Super Kings by five wickets after successfully chasing the 210-run target in 18.4 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first, as he felt that the wicket was drier. Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was happy, as he wanted to field first. For the KKR vs PBKS match in the IPL 2026 game number 12, rain can play a crucial role, as there is a strong rain forecast after 8 PM.
