IPL 2026 is ready for its second game of the season, as the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders (MI vs KKR) has been scheduled at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams are ready to begin their journey in the 19th edition of the IPL.

The five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians haven't played an IPL final since winning their last title in the 2020 edition. MI are desperate to change this frustrating consistent underperformance, as they are ready for the first game of the season. As they haven't won the IPL season opener since 2013, it is their first hurdle of the 2026 season.

Last season, they reached the playoffs but were eliminated in Qualifier 2, where they lost against Punjab Kings. It is time to go further this season for the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians to create a brand new history in the tournament.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders are the three-time IPL champions, winning the last time in the 2024 edition. However, starting the last season as defending champions, KKR finished in the eighth position, their worst-ever standing.
