IPL 2026, Match 24 - MI vs PBKS: Toss Update and Playing XI

It is the Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings (MI vs PBKS) match in the 24th game of the IPL 2026, which is being hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday night (April 16). Both teams are ready for their fifth match of the season, while Wankhede Stadium is hosting its third game of the season. 

The five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians are struggling deeply early this season. Although they started the new season by winning their season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders at home, which was the first win of their season opener since IPL 2013, MI then lost three consecutive games. After losing against the home team Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, MI lost their home fixture against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

On the other hand, the IPL 2025 runners-up Punjab Kings are now the only team to remain unbeaten this season, as they have seven points in four games, recording three wins and one no result. After beating Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, PBKS had a no result against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders, while they claimed another win in their last game against SunRisers Hyderabad.

IPL 2026, Match 24 - MI vs PBKS: Toss Update 

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya also confirmed that he would choose to field first, but it was good to lose the toss after observing the pitch.
