Watch: IPL 2026: ‘MS didn’t approve…’- Ambati Rayudu exposes CSK’s death bowling after defeat vs RCB
The former CSK batter, Ambati Rayudu, has exposed the death bowling of the Chennai Super Kings after their defeat in the Indian Premier League 2026 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, lost all the momentum with their death overs bowling as they leaked 92 runs in five overs, with Tim David smashing Jamie Overton for a 30-run over.
CSK came up with the wide bowling plan from around the stumps. But that didn’t work at all, and former CSK player Ambati Rayudu blamed the management for copying the same template in the last five overs of the innings as he dropped a bombshell statement.
Ambati Rayudu reveals jaw-dropping statement on CSK’s bowling
Rayudu revealed that similar planning was pushed before, but MS Dhoni didn’t approve it, and that stopped them from going with the plan. Now, in Dhoni’s absence due to injury, the strategy has been exposed by David and Rajat Patidar’s brutal onslaught in slog overs.
“They’ve tried that in practice sessions over the years, but it never translated into games because MS didn’t approve of using that kind of angle in depth. Even as batters, we found it easy to counter those deliveries - if you stand just half a foot outside the crease, the angle is completely nullified.” Rayudu expressed on ESPNcricinfo.

“I think that’s an area they need to review. Sometimes, it’s better to stick to conventional strategies: good yorkers, well-pitched slower balls, keep it simple and basic.” The former Indian batter addressed in the same video.
Rayudu was not happy with the planning of the CSK management, while the emotions were echoed by another former spin all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, in his video.
CSK’s poor IPL auction strategy hits them hard
It’s hard to believe the approach they took in the IPL 2026 auction. Matt Henry has been put into the stands for the last three games, but he can’t be dropped, given that there is no backup player in the side. Meanwhile, their injury replacement of Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johsnon, is currently healing an injury, and will come two weeks later.

Dhoni is currently available and is expected to come into the side on April 14 at home against the Kolkata Knight Riders, while Dewald Brevis is anticipated to be in the team against the Delhi Capitals on April 10.
