Watch: IPL 2026: Mukhesh Kumar's double-wicket over vs MI gives DC early advantage
Mukesh Kumar has sent back both Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma during his second over of the first innings for the Delhi Capitals to put the Mumbai Indians under pressure in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Both the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) came into their respective second encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on a winning note as they locked horns at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It was important for them to continue the winning journey early in the competition.
Delhi’s captain, Axar Patel, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which he reckoned could be a bit slow inside the powerplay. And the first few overs, especially with the change of pace, proved the same as the Mumbai Indians, who were without their designated captain, Hardik Pandya, made a struggling start.
Mukhesh Kumar’s double-wicket over dents MI early
Mukhesh Kumar was given the new ball in the opening over, where he failed to get his line and length right against the left-handed batter, Ryan Rickelton. But the Bengal pacer made a strong comeback in the second over.
Watch the video here:
Rickelton looked to go straight against the short ball with a cross-batted shot, but missed to get the sweet connection. However, on the very next delivery, he was undone by some crafty bowling as he looked to swing the bat over the mid-wicket region. But the ball caught the outer half and lobbed to the right of mid-off, where Axar completed an easy catch.
A ball later, Mukhesh sent back Tilak Varma for a two-ball duck. It was the change of pace as Tilak was way too early into the drive and tried to check his shot at the last moment, ending up scooping it to the left of the bowler, who grabbed a fine catch on his follow-through.
MI struggled inside powerplay
The Delhi Capitals were excellent with the ball inside the power play. The dismissal of both left-handed batters saw Axar coming into the attack and gave away only three singles in the six legal deliveries. Vipraj Nigam was also equally good for leaking only seven runs in his first over of the innings.
Lungi Ngidi, cunningly, used the slower deliveries to fox the MI batters as the visitors ended with 41/2 in six overs. In the last four overs, they lost both wickets for 23 runs on the board.
Brief Scores: MI 84/3 (Rohit Sharma 35, Mukesh Kumar 1/12) vs DC
