IPL 2026: Shashank Singh delivers double breakthrough to put SRH under pressure in PBKS vs SRH clash
Shashank Singh delivers a crucial double breakthrough to dent SRH’s innings during the PBKS vs SRH clash in IPL 2026.

In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Punjab Kings' Shashank Singh provided the breakthrough the team needed after being thrashed by Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the power play in New Chandigarh. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers wreaked havoc on PBKS bowlers in the first six overs. The relief came for the home team in the 8th over when Shashank dismissed both the batters in a single over.
In eight overs, SRH had scored 120 runs for no loss with Head batting on 38 and Abhishek on 74 off 28 balls, including five boundaries and eight sixes. Both batters are two of the best in the tournament and have produced some fiery knocks as well. It's usually Head who gives the start, but in today's match, it was Abhishek who didn't show mercy on the bowlers.

Shashank Singh dismisses Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma in single over
PBKS bowler Shashank Singh dismissed Travis Head in the first ball of the 8th over, providing the first breakthrough. He bowled a slower ball on a short of a length, attacking the stumps, and Head went on to play it. However, it was a mishit, and the ball went straight to the fielder at long-on. Xavier Bartlett took the catch comfortably.
Two balls later, Abhishek was dismissed as well. This time, it was on a length and wide off and Abhishek tried to hit it but failed miserably. He hit it towards the extra cover region for another six, but instead went to the deep extra cover, where Arshdeep Singh took the catch.
Despite their dismissal, SRH went on to go above 200 runs in the match as they got correct support from the other batters, including skipper Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. Both players scored runs at a considerable rate and put up runs on the board.
Brief Scores (at the time of writing)- SRH 218/5 (Abhishek Sharma 74, Shashank Singh 2/20) vs PBKS
