IPL 2026: These 3 IPL teams should take punt on Prithvi Shaw during mini auction

Prithvi Shaw set 2025 as his year for redemption. He shifted his base from Mumbai to Maharashtra for the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025. As of now, his decision to change the Ranji team proved worthy, as the batter smashed a double century for Maharashtra. Now, ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction, Indian cricket fans are curious about his future in the Indian Premier League.

Will he find any franchise as his next destination? The question has started to rise. There are multiple IPL teams who are reportedly looking to reinforce their batting order. If Shaw continues his form in the domestic format, then multiple clubs can show interest in him. 

These 3 franchises should bid for Prithvi Shaw in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini auction: 

1. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

After a disappointing season in IPL 2025, the former champions are all set to make some changes in their squad. They may have the desire to sign some exciting top-order batters who can score runs aggressively. Shaw can be fit for this role. Shaw’s powerplay aggression and spin-hitting ability would suit Eden Gardens’ traditional pitch conditions. The right-handed batter also can be useful if the franchise wants to apply a rotational formula to utilize most of their talents.

2. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

In the previous season, LSG's top batting order was mostly dependent on KL Rahul. Rahul played extremely well, but he is not among the swashbuckling batters who can score runs, maintaining an eye-catching strike rate. Shaw has the potential to do this. His aggressive nature of batting can complement well someone who can play an anchor role. 

2. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK suffered the worst in the IPL 2025 season. On pen and paper, their batting unit was strong enough to make a strong performance. But somehow, they could not perform well. They may need to cash in for an aggressive opener for the IPL 2026 campaign. Shaw's current form has the potential to intimidate the franchise officials.
