In the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Guwahati. MI won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first due to overcast conditions. Meanwhile, the game was delayed for a long period of time, and now, it has been reduced to 11 overs per side.

Hardik Pandya's decision backfired as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal played an outstanding knock and bashed the MI bowlers from the first ball of the match. The crowd was ecstatic with the batting approach from the young batters in the ongoing match. Jaiswal made sure that RR put up a solid total on the board and continued the winning streak.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi impresses with quickfire knock

The 15-year-old batter, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, slammed two huge sixes off Jasprit Bumrah in the second over of the match. Those hits gave him the confidence to proceed further and kept striking the ball with full confidence. He scored 39 off 14 deliveries, including one boundary and five sixes. It was a wonderful knock by the young batter.

However, he was dismissed by Shardul Thakur in the fifth over. He tried hitting the ball towards the boundary, but Tilak Varma was standing near the boundary line with full confidence. He kept his eyes on the ball and took the catch with ease.

MI bowlers strike to halt momentum at crucial stage

The pitch conditions during overcast conditions are usually against the team batting first due to moisture on the pitch that restricts them from striking the ball. The ball gets slow as well and doesn't come onto the bat properly. However, the crowd experienced something different in today's game. Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi's game was completely different and entertaining.

However, MI bowlers did try to strike a halt in the momentum by taking three wickets in the first innings. Despite that, RR went on to score 150 runs. It was an incredible innings and is likely to help the hosts win the match as well. The required run-rate for MI is over 13, which is not impossible. However, the opening pair will have to strike to change the game's route.
