The New And Updation Rules On Cards

BCCI had invited the team captains at the BCCI headquarters to brief them about the new rules and the updation which was officially announced and circulated to all media houses. The new rules state that.

Saliva Ban Revoked:

During the pandemic, bowlers were banned from using saliva on the ball. Now the rule has been revoked by BCCI where bowlers will be allowed to use it to shine the ball. The BCCI lifted the ban after receiving a majority consensus from IPL captains in a landmark decision taken at the captains' meeting in Mumbai. The ban was lifted and it applies to all 10 teams who are part of IPL and can follow the old tradition which was used for ball maintenance.

A New Ball To Counter Dew In Evening Games

Due to the dew collection in the evening matches, the team bowling second will have an option of ball change after 10th over.  The change can be requested by the captain in regard of dew present in the ball . Once the request is poised the umpire will have a look into ball and will replace with the same ball which had same wear and tear.

The bowler does not have any right to choose the ball it's only dependent on the umpire only, he will have a ball check and will replace the ball.  The umpire can change the ball before the 10th over too if he thinks that the ball is too wet to continue or it has been damaged or lost. If the bowling captain subsequently asks for a ball change due to enough due factor then the ball can be changed by the umpire without any consent.

New Code Of Conduct

There will be demerit point system and suspension points which will will be valid for 36 months this is the new code of conduct which will be implemented from Ipl 2025.

DRS Expansion

There will be expansion of DRS rule too where height based no ball reviews and out side off wide ball reviews can be asked by a batter.  This will initiated by Hawkye technology and with ball tracking system to help the umpires on better understanding of the game.
