During the clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the craze was around how the 15-year-old, Vaibhav Sooryavasnhi, would tackle the premier world-class pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. 

And on the very first ball in the faceoff, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi displayed his class with a fine flick shot, using his back lift for a massive six against the right-arm pacer as he put the ball into the stands. Even on the fourth ball of the over, the southpaw cracked another six.

Vaibhav started the camp with a strong knock of 52 runs against the Chennai Super Kings before playing two back-to-back impactful knocks of 31 and 39 against the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians. Ravichandran Ashwin, the former Indian player, however, was in awe of the Bihar batter’s six against Bumrah.

“Honestly, this wonder kid is batting incredibly well. Day by day, I’m becoming more and more of a fan of his batting. Obviously, while doing commentary, I have to go through the entire game. But otherwise, when I am at home, I generally check the scorecard. Like it was raining the day before yesterday, and it rained the day too. So, after the start of the game, there was a different craze.” Ashwin expressed on his YouTube channel.

“Yesterday, just to watch him play, my wife and I sat in front of the TV. He didn’t disappoint at all. Hitting a six straight off the first ball against a world-class bowler. He could have actually seen a few balls of Bumrah, the world’s number one bowler, and it’s simply unbelievable talent.” The Chennai-born added.

RR earn three successive wins in IPL 2026

The Royals are at the top of the points table with three wins in as many games. They started the competition with an eight-wicket win over Chennai as they completed the chase of 128 runs. In the second fixture, Rajasthan held their nerve and defended the massive score of 210 runs to win by six runs.

In the 11-over side game, Rajasthan blew away the Mumbai Indians for a massive score of 150 runs before restricting the score by 123 runs and earned the win by 27 runs.
