Is KL Rahul playing in today’s MI vs DC IPL 2025 clash?

KL Rahul has been named one of the impact substitutes for Delhi Capitals (DC) in their crucial IPL 2025 encounter against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday, May 21. The high-stakes match, with a playoff spot on the line, is being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As per journalist Gaurav Gupta of the Times of India, Rahul took a hit to his right knee during a training session when facing pacer Mukesh Kumar. He reportedly left the nets early, sparking doubts about his fitness for the game.

In a further twist, DC are being led by Faf du Plessis for this fixture. Regular skipper Axar Patel has been ruled out due to illness, having been unwell for the past two days. The sudden leadership change comes at a pivotal moment for the Capitals, who are looking to stay alive in the playoff race. With injuries and illnesses affecting their key players, DC will hope that their replacements and bench strength can rise to the occasion in what could be a season-defining match.

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians lock horns in do or die game

Mumbai Indians (MI) are up against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 63rd match of IPL 2025 at The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams are evenly matched in the fight for playoff spots, giving this match knockout levels of intensity. MI are in fourth place in the table, with seven victories and five losses from twelve games. After a setback to the Gujarat Titans in their last match, there is no doubt that Mumbai is keen for a bounce-back win to secure a playoff spot.

DC, in contrast, began the season in the top four, but fell back in the middle phase of the tournament and have now slipped to fifth place with six wins and five losses irrespective of their twelve matches. With playoff qualification now on the line for them, this is a must-win for DC. Everything to play for, expect a thriller in Mumbai, as both teams will battle like nobody's business and contend not only for survival with everything at stake, but also a shot at the title.
