The defending champions India thrashed Pakistan in the crucial Group A fixture in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at Colombo on Sunday night (February 15) and qualified for the Super Eight stage.

India won by 61 runs

After Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha surprisingly chose to field first, Indian opener Ishan Kishan's stormy knock of 77 runs in 40 balls was enough for India to manage a strong total of 175/7 in 20 overs, while the pitch was tricky and spin favoured.

In reply, Pakistan were losing wickets from the first over and regularly, as they were way away from the chase. While Pakistan were bundled out for only 114 runs in 18 overs, India won the match by 61 runs – the largest winning margin between India and Pakistan in T20I history.
