While the India vs Pakistan match can happen thrice in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, including one confirmation in the Group Stage, many Indians want to boycott the match against Pakistan. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali wishes India to boycott the match and gives the reason for it.

As India and Pakistan are in the same group in the Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in T20I format in the United Arab Emirates between September 9 and 28, 2025, they can face each other three times in the tournament if both teams reach the Final. Their group stage meeting has been scheduled on September 14, and they can face each other on September 21 in the Super Four and September 28 in the Final.

For more than last one decade, team India has always been one of the best teams in any format. They are already favourite for the Asia Cup 2025. Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket is deeply struggling with various internal issues. Recently, Pakistan lost a T20I series against the hosts Bangladesh, while then won a T20I series against West Indies in the United States tour, but lost the ODI series in the West Indies tour.

I pray India refuse to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup: Basit Ali

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali feels that the out-of-form Pakistan will be just thrashed by the Indian team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. He believes that only India's refusal to play against Pakistan will help them to get out of the embarrassment.

Basit Ali said on The Game Plan YouTube channel, “I pray India refuse to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, just like how they did at the World Championships of Legends. Itni buri tarah maarenge na vo, ki aapne socha ni hoga (They will beat us so badly you can't even imagine).”

Team India dominates Pakistan

India have a dominant record against Pakistan in recent times in every format, as they now face each other in ODI and T20I in the ICC and ACC events. In their 13 T20I meetings, India won nine, Pakistan won three, and the other one had a tied result, which India won in a bowl-out.

Due to recent political issues between the two countries, especially after the 2025 Pahalgam attack, Indians have cut many ties with Pakistan, including the India Champions refusing to face the Pakistan Champions twice in the World Championship of Legends 2025, including the Semi-final fixture. Since the announcement of the Asia Cup 2025 fixture, many Indians have raised their voices on the schedule against Pakistan and demand complete boycott against them in the tournament.
