Less than a week to go before the beginning of the Indian Premier League 2026, and Mumbai Indians (MI) fans received shocking news regarding their pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah’s recent visit to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) raised concerns among the MI fans.

On the afternoon of March 23, The Times of India reported that the pacer visited the board’s CoE in Bengaluru, instead of joining the Mumbai Indians camps straightaway for the IPL 2026 season. Is Bumrah suffering from any kind of injury? The question was raised as soon as the news spread on social media platforms.

Bumrah reaches the BCCI Centre of Excellence just days before IPL 2026

According to the TOI report, “India and Mumbai Indians seamer Jasprit Bumrah has checked into the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). It is not certain whether it is for an injury-related issue or routine checks.”

Bumrah has a history of injuries, and BCCI is well aware of that. Because of multiple injuries and workload management issues, the board prefers to protect the pacer for the key events like the World Cup. It was reported before that the focus will gradually shift from the T20I to the ODI as the ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held next year. Like the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, the seamer will have to play a vital role there also.

The Mumbai-born last featured during the 2026 T20 World Cup Final on March 8 in Ahmedabad. According to the schedule, he is expected to play during the IPL 2026. Mumbai Indians will play their first IPL 2026 match on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Fans are expecting to see the pacer in motion in the highly anticipated clash.

But will he play in the match? The question will remain as long as the next report arrives.

No official clarity on injury as Mumbai Indians await fitness update

As of now, there is no official update or statement on Jasprit Bumrah. It is possible that the bowler visited the Centre of Excellence only for a routine check-up, not because of any injury or fitness-related issues. Why the star player went to CoE will be clear once the final report arrives.

Fans panic over Bumrah’s availability for IPL 2026 opener

Fans, especially the Mumbai Indians fans, are worried about the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah for valid reasons. He has been performing well constantly and effectively for the team.  Last season, when there were concerns over the Pacers' fitness and workload management, the 32-year-old performed exceptionally well.

“Then MI tata bye bye. Previous IPL first 5 matches lost because of Bumrah's absence,” one of the fans on social media platform ‘X’ wrote.
