Seattle Orcas Win Last-Over Thriller Against MI New York in MLC 2025

Match 18 of the 2025 Major League Cricket season turned out to be a run-filled rollercoaster at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Seattle Orcas chased down a huge total to beat MI New York by 3 wickets in a thrilling final-over finish.

After being asked to bat first, MI New York made the most of the batting-friendly pitch. Their captain Nicholas Pooran was in top form, smashing a brilliant 108 off just 60 balls. He hit boundaries and sixes all over the ground. Tajinder Singh gave him good support, scoring a 95 runs in only 35 balls. Together, they helped MI New York reach 237/4 in 20 overs. Monank Patel also played good innings and scored quick 20 runs.

For Seattle, Kyle Mayers picked up 2 wickets for 34 runs, while Gerald Coetzee also got 2 wickets. Jasdeep Singh bowled without success, finishing with 0/39.

Chasing 238 was never going to be easy, but Seattle Orcas made it look possible. Shimron Hetmyer played an outstanding knock, scoring 97 runs off just 40 balls. He took the attack to the bowlers and kept the team in the hunt. Kyle Mayers gave the chase a solid start with 37 off 20 balls. Later in the innings, captain Sikandar Raza played a crucial cameo, scoring 30 off just 9 balls to bring the Orcas close to the target.

MI New York tried their best with the ball. Trent Boult was their Key bowler, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs. Delano Potgieter got 2 wickets, and Rushil Ugarkar picked up one. In the end, Seattle reached 238/7 with just a few balls to spare, pulling off one of the most exciting wins of the tournament. Both teams played some top-quality cricket, but it was the Orcas who held their nerve when it mattered most.
