English cricketer Joe Root created new history with his bat during the Lord's Test against India, as the right-handed batter set a new Test cricket record against India as the first player to achieve it in Test cricket against India.

Leveling the five-match Test series by 1-1 against India in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, the hosts England chose to bat first after winning the toss in the third Test of the series at Lord's in London on Thursday (July 10). While England ended the opening day of the Test match in a better position with 251/4, former English captain Joe Root was the reason for it.

Joe Root became first to record 3000 Test runs against India

At the stumps of the opening day of the Lord's Test, Joe Root remained not out for 99 runs in 191 balls, where the right-handed batter hit nine fours. While Root was already the leading run-scorer in Test cricket against India, he was 45 runs away from completing 3000 Test runs against India before the ongoing Lord's Test.

So, before his 23rd Test 50+ score completion against India, Root completed his 3000 Test runs against India, and became the first to record 3000 Test runs against India.
