Team India has received a lot of criticism recently because they have yet to win a match in the ongoing T20 World Cup. After India’s Super 12 loss to New Zealand on Sunday, fans and analysts slammed Virat Kohli and the team management for a variety of reasons, ranging from strategy to player selection. Kane Williamson’s side cruised to victory by eight wickets. In the meantime, India was thrashed by Pakistan in their first match, losing by ten wickets. The team’s chances of reaching the semifinals have been lowered, but Kohli and his teammates have got backing from former England captain Kevin Pietersen.
Pietersen’s comment comes after India’s recent results were attributed to “bubble fatigue, mental exhaustion” by Jasprit Bumrah. Following India’s loss to New Zealand, the pacer was asked if the players were tired following the IPL season, which ended a week before the T20 World Cup.
“As a result, all of it can play on your mind at times. When you’re on the field, however, you don’t think about all of that. Obviously, living in a bubble and being apart from your family for such a long time plays a part, “ stated Pieterson.
The Indian team will be aiming to secure a win in their upcoming matches against Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia. Kohli and Shastri will be counting on New Zealand’s win over Afghanistan on Sunday to qualify for the semifinals. Let’s see what this time around holds for Team India!
