Virat Kohli made his international debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla after their regular opening batter, Virender Sehwag, picked up an injury and was ruled out of the encounter. Since then, he has broken several records with the bat and his leadership abilities across the three formats of the game.

Kohli is currently the third leading run-getter of international cricket. The right-handed batter has smashed 27599 runs for India in 617 innings at an average of 52.27 and a strike rate of nearly 80, with the help of 82 centuries and 143 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 254 runs. He last appeared in action during the IPL 2025 final for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
