Know why Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are unlikely for Asia Cup 2025.

The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce its 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which is likely to be played in the shortest format. However, there are several questions on the probable squad of the Blue Brigade, who have the positive headache of the problem of plenty, especially after a successful five-match Test series in England.

Many reports claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are likely to feature in the Asia Cup 2025 squad. The former has smashed 723 runs in 22 T20I innings at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of over 164 with the help of five fifties and one century.

On the other hand, the red-ball leader of the side, Gill, has smacked 578 runs in 21 innings at an average of 30.42 and a strike rate of nearly 140, with the help of three half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 126 runs. The right-handed batter earned 650 runs in the last IPL at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 155.87 with six half-centuries.

Both batters are capable of playing the shortest format, but they are still unlikely to feature in the Asia Cup 2025 due to the schedule. The final of the tournament will be played at the Dubai International Stadium on September 28. On the other hand, the opening home Test between India and the West Indies will take place from October 02 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In that case, it will be difficult for the duo to get ready for the opening Test of the series. Moreover, if they make it into the side, then the selectors will need to drop one of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Verma. If they drop Samson, then they will have to pick an wicket-keeper in the eleven.

The entire Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Dubai and Abu Dhabi hosting the entire competition, as the official hosts, India, will play their group stage in both venues.
