LPL 2024 announces exciting new 'Power-Blast' feature for enhanced action during death overs

The Lanka Premier League 2024 is adding a thrilling new feature called ‘Power Blast Overs.’ This special two-over power play will take place during the 16th and 17th overs of each innings. It will add to the traditional power play that occurs during the first six overs, bringing a new dynamic to the latter part of the game.

During the ‘Power Blast Overs,’ only four fielders will be allowed outside the circle. This restriction is designed to make this phase of the game more aggressive and exciting, encouraging teams to take more risks and score more runs. Fans can look forward to a more thrilling and action-packed end to each innings.

Samantha Dodanwela on boosting the league’s appeal

“We introduced this to make the league even more exciting as it grows every year,” said Mr. Samantha Dodanwela, Tournament Director of the Lanka Premier League 2024. The league continues to attract more viewers and participants, and this innovation aims to enhance its appeal even further.

“This new feature will surely excite the fans, and teams will need to strategize well to take advantage of it,” Mr. Dodanwela added. The ‘Power Blast Overs’ promise to bring new strategies and heightened competition, making the LPL 2024 a must-watch for cricket enthusiasts.

The LPL 2024 will run from July 1 to 21, overlapping with the USA’s Major League Cricket. Major League Cricket will feature more well-known international players, while the LPL has struggled to attract foreign talent due to financial issues, even though it has strong local fan support.
