Lucknow Super Giants are currently playing at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in their IPL 2024 fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders, on Sunday, April 14. However, LSG players have donned their green and maroon jerseys, which have been inspired by Kolkata football giants Mohun Bagan as well. The jersey has been changed as both sides have the same principal owner, Indian billionaire Sanjiv Goenka. They wore the same jersey in IPL 2023 against KKR as well.

LSG have the better record against KKR

However, LSG have been moderate this season and they will be looking for some momentum in the tournament. Moreover, they won’t get the service of their new pace sensational Mayank Yadav. Although they have never lost to KKR before, KKR are in good form currently and there’s the possibility of turning the table as well.

Speaking on his Mayank Yadav’s fitness, LSG captain KL Rahul said, “He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don’t want to rush him. We need to protect his body, he’s itching to go. Need to make sure that he’s hundred percent (fit) before he comes back.”

Meanwhile, KKR have been playing great this season. Sunil Narine has performed with both bat and ball, and has proved to be a key player of this season. He has the most runs (127) and the highest strike rate (201.59) among all players in powerplay this season so far as well.

KKR has been in great form this season

On the other hand, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Rana have done well for KKR in the bowling department as well. However, Mitchell Starc is yet to hit the best of form although Gautam Gambhir backed him.

Speaking ahead of the match, he said, “There’s no reason why you should talk about individual performance. I feel that Mitchell Starc has done reasonably okay. I think he’s bowled some tough overs. And he will create an impact, what he’s been picked for.”

A win will be important for both sides to be in this season’s playoff race as well.
