Major Update on Team India selection and captain for England series

A major update related to Team India has popped up on the daytime of May 21. Some previous reports suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) set out to announce the name of the captain for the Test set-up soon along with the squad.

It is now believed that the board will announce the skipper's name first. According to fresh reports, BCCI is likely to announce the Indian team & Test Captain for the England tour on Saturday. Now, there are several names roaming around cricket fans' minds as a possible leader of the team.

Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul are the few senior players active and may get their spot in the squad for the England tour as well. Over Jadeja or Rahul, Bumrah clearly is the fan favorite; he even gained experience as a captain as well. But his workload management can be a major issue for BCCI officials to think about.

The race is probably between Gill and Bumrah

Like Bumrah, Rahul also has leadership experience, but the board may like to utilize him in a pure batter-only role, as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both retired from the longest format of the game and created a void in the batting lineup.

Other than Bumrah, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have the potential to replace former skipper Rohit Sharma. Pant, now struggling with his batting and temperament, has failed to gain the trust of a section of the Indian cricket fans. According to the ongoing speculations on the internet, the taking is mostly around possibilities around Bumrah and Gill, where Gill may be a step ahead, but the final call obviously will be from BCCI.
