'Marsh ne adab se mara' - Fans react as Mitchell Marsh notch up his maiden IPL century in GT vs LSG clash

Lucknow Super Giants' star Australian batter Mitchell Marsh slammed a century in their IPL 2025 match against the hosts Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Thursday night (May 22). With his first IPL century, Marsh created a new IPL history.

Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from the IPL 2025 while they are playing their 13th match of the season, and that too against the points table toppers Gujarat Titans. After Titans chose to field first, LSG openers provided a strong start, where Mitchell Marsh dominated with the bat.  

IPL 2025, GT vs LSG: Mitchell Marsh recorded a 56-ball century

After LSG managed to score 53/0 at the end of the powerplay, the openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram had a 91-run partnership for the first wicket in 9.5 overs. While Markram was dismissed for 36 runs, Marsh continued his domination and completed his second consecutive fifty in 33 balls, with the help of four fours and four sixes. Marsh later completed his first IPL century in 56 balls, the joint fastest for the franchise (equalled the joint record of KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis). 

With the help of 10 fours and eight sixes, Marsh scored 117 runs from 64 balls before Arshad Khan dismissed him in the 19th over. He had a 121-run partnership for the second wicket with Nicholas Pooran (56 not out off 27 balls; four fours and five sixes), and LSG managed the total of 235/2 in 20 overs.

IPL 2025: 1st century by an overseas batter; new IPL history

It was the seventh century in the IPL 2025, but first by an overseas batter. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh created history with his century as IPL got the first pair of brothers to score centuries in the tournament. In the inaugural edition of the IPL (2008), Mitchell's elder brother Shaun Marsh hit his only IPL century for Kings XI Punjab (presently known as Punjab Kings).
