The Emirates ICC Elites Panel of the Match officials have been disclosed for the upcoming final of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between India and New Zealand, which takes place on March 08 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be the fourth final of the competition for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side, with them winning two of the last three.

England’s Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf will serve as the on-field umpires for the showpiece match, as the former will officiate the second consecutive final of the tournament, having stood along with Chris Gaffaney for the final of the 2024 season between India and South Africa in Barbados.

The appointment has continued to be the major event for the impressive run of Illingworth. In recent years, he has also officiated in the finals of the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The former was between India and Australia, while the latter took place when India got the better of the Kiwis in Dubai.

Wharf has previously officiated at the World Cup of the Women’s side in 2022 and the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 before being named to the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires last year. Both Illingworth and Wharf stood for the semifinal clash of the New Zealand and South Africa sides at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In support of the on-field officials, Allahuddien Palekar has been appointed as the third umpire, with the 48-year-old being elevated as the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires in March 2025 and having been part of six matches during the event.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side comes into the clash after their narrow seven-run win over England in Mumbai, while New Zealand had fun with South Africa in completing the chase in 12.5 overs.
