MCA unveils list of retained players for T20 Mumbai League 2026

Amidst the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed the star-studded list of player retentions, which features the T20 World Cup 2026 winning captain of the Indian side, Suryakumar Yadav, and other notable players of the state, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube, ahead of the T20 Mumbai League 2026. 

In the case of the Mumbai side during the IPL 2026, their performance has been below par, with the Hardik Pandya-led side sitting at the eighth position of the points table with just a couple of victories in seven encounters at a net run rate of -0.736.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tushar Deshpande, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shardul Thakur are also among the icon players of the competition. The U19 World Cup 2026 winning captain and opener, Ayush Mhatre, has also been retained. Overall, all eight sides have retained three players each for the fourth edition of the event.

With the retention phase being completed, the focus has now been on the player auction as the teams look to build a strong core group to compete for the title.

The retention of some of the biggest names in Indian cricket reflects the strength and credibility the T20 Mumbai League has built over the years. At the same time, the opportunity for young and emerging players to share the dressing room with such established stars is invaluable for their growth and development.” MCA president, Ajinkya Naik, expressed.
