The Mumbai Indians (MI) won the contest against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in two places, one inside the field with the performances of the bat and ball, while in the stadium, the MI supporters won after proposing to a KKR fan in the stadium. 

The MI supporter’s proposal to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ fan turned chaotic after the engagement ring slipped out of his hand in the middle of the game. The incident went viral on social media platforms as the fans reacted in many ways.

The video showed the Mumbai Indians’ fan going down on one knee in the stands as his partner, who was dressed in the KKR colours, looked on. Just as the proposal began, the ring fell out of his hands and triggered a very short yet frantic search in the seating area, where one of the fans found the ring and gave it back to the MI fan.

However, for a few seconds, the focus shifted entirely as the hands scrambled before the eyes, scanning the steps, and what was meant to be a smooth and picture-perfect moment suddenly turned into a nearly embarrassing moment. But he was relieved finally after getting the ring back.

The moment played out on the sidelines of a high-scoring game as the MI side completed the fine chase by six wickets with five balls to spare. The KKR side posted a strong score of 220 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs as Ajinkya Rahane smashed 67 runs in 40 balls before Angkrish Raghuvanshi slammed 51 runs in 29 balls.

Mumbai completed the chase after their two openers laid the platform by celebrating strong fifties. Rohit Sharma nailed 78 runs in 38 balls with the help of six fours and as many sixes before Ryan Rickelton cracked 81 runs in 43 balls with the help of four fours and eight sixes.
