In the second Semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, while two-time champions England are facing the hosts and defending champions India at Mumbai on Thursday night (March 5), the English team has disappointed with its fielding. Former English captain Michael Vaughan has reacted after observing disappointing fielding in the Semifinal.

England chose to field first on the batting paradise Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Indian opener Sanju Samson led the charge as the Men in Blue managed to score 253/7 in 20 overs.

Harry Brook dropped Sanju Samson

In the first innings of the match, English captain Harry Brook dropped Sanju Samson at mid-on, who was then batting on 15 runs. It was a comfortable catch, and the English skipper dropped that opportunity. Soon, England realised the cost of that mistake, as Samson added crucial 74 runs in 35 balls.

With the help of eight fours and seven sixes, Sanju Samson scored 89 off 42 balls before he was dismissed in the 14th over.

After seeing that horrible catch drop, former England captain Michael Vaughan came up with a sarcastic tweet. He wasn't popular as a fielder, which he openly acknowledged.

There were some more sloppy fielding for England in the match, including dropping Hardik Pandya by Tom Banton while the Indian all-rounder was batting at 13 runs, who ultimately scored 27 off 12 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Ishan Kishan (39 off 18 balls) and Shivam Dube (43 off 25 balls) also played some crucial knocks, while Tilak Varma provided a brilliant cameo at the end with 21 off just seven balls with three sixes.

Among the top seven Indian batters, only the opener Abhishek Sharma (9) and the skipper Suryakumar Yadav (11) failed to reach the 20-run mark in the innings, as India scored the fourth-highest T20 World Cup total.
