In Match 8 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament, Washington Freedom played Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Oakland Coliseum, California. Washington Freedom won the toss and chose to bat first. There was a masterclass in power-hitting and controlled bowling as Washington Freedom won by a thumping 113 runs.

Glenn Maxwell was in his destructive avatar, smashing an unbeaten 106 off only 49 balls. His century was laced with a series of boundaries and sixes and was the perfect way to start a huge total. Mitchell Owen contributed useful batting with a brisk 32 off 11 balls, while Mark Chapman added 17 off 21 deliveries. Their contributions took Washington Freedom to a formidable 208/5 in 20 overs. Among the bowlers of Knight Riders, Corne Dry (2/33 in 3) and Tanveer Sangha (2/38 in 4) were able to take wickets, albeit at a cost.

In response, the Knight Riders, under pressure, collapsed and were bowled out for a mere 95 in 16.3 overs. Saif Badar scored 32 from 31 balls, while Jason Holder chipped in with 23 from 16, but the remainder of the team could not withstand the bowling onslaught. Washington bowlers were merciless—Jack Edwards (3/15 in 3) and Mitchell Owen (3/18 in 3) bowled hot spells, while Saurabh Netravalkar finished it off with brilliant figures of 2/6 in merely 3.3 overs. It was a comprehensive bowling show that guaranteed a crushing victory.
