The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) experienced nearly the same fate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. The former came into the head-to-head after two powerful wins over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Gujarat, meanwhile, after successive defeats to start the IPL 2026 edition of the competition, earned a nervy last-over victory against the Delhi Capitals. Their captain, Shubman Gill, won the toss and decided to bowl first in the afternoon clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekhana Stadium in Lucknow.

Rishabh Pant dismissed for 18 against GT in IPL 2026

Lucknow, despite scoring runs aggressively inside the powerplay, kept losing wickets regularly. Rishabh Pant, the LSG captain, walked at number three during the second over of the clash and smashed his first delivery over the mid-off region for a powerful boundary against Kagiso Rabada.

He drove Mohammad Siraj for another boundary, leaning on the front foot and creamed the drive through the covers. The southpaw continued the same dominance against Rabada as he went on his back foot and pulled the pacer over the deep mid-wicket for a massive six.

But his fun ended on the first delivery of the fifth over against Siraj. It was a short ball as Pant tried to loft one on the offside. But the length wasn’t there as the left-handed batter ended up miscuing terribly with the ball going towards the cover region. Rahul Tewatia settled himself and grabbed the fine catch to send the opposition captain back in the hut for 18 runs.

It was the fifth dismissal for Pant against the Hyderabad-born in the T20s, with the batter managing 93 runs off 53 balls in 10 innings at an average of under 19.

LSG continue to lose regular wickets against GT

The runs were coming for the home side, but on the other hand, Gujarat continued to keep taking wickets to keep the pressure on the hosts. An over later, they saw the return of Aiden Markram, who found the fielder at the deep mid-wicket region for 30 runs.

Prasidh Krishna used the short ball beautifully to pick his second wicket of the innings. Ayush Badoni failed to deposit the ball into the stands, and suddenly, the Super Giants lost four wickets in nine overs, which increased the pressure on their lower order.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing)- LSG 87/4 (Aiden Markram 30, Prasidh Krishna 2/12) vs GT
