The Pakistan Super League (PSL) returned for its 11th edition on March 26. The first match was between the Lahore Qalandars and the Hyderabad Kingsmen. The PSL matches are played behind closed doors, making it impossible for the audience to watch their favourite players live in the stadium. The DJ plays the sound of the crowd to make it more interesting for the cricketers.

But Pakistan's former cricketer Mohammad Yousuf came up with a suggestion that includes the fans. If the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or the government accept the suggestions, the fans might get a chance to watch their favourite players in action.

What Mohammad Yousuf proposed to bring fans back into PSL

Pakistan's former cricketer Mohammad Yousuf proposed bringing back the crowd at PSL 2026 matches. He took to his Twitter account to open up about ways to include the audience without breaking any rules. As per the former cricketer's suggestions, people can walk to the stadiums rather than bringing their vehicles. They can also use public transport to watch the matches.

"Considering the government’s swift action in closing public entry for #ThePSLT20 matches according to regional conditions, I would like to see fans walking to the stadium or using public transport, while keeping stadium parking closed for private vehicles. This might bring some joy to cricket lovers and restore the entertainment of the #PSL11," tweeted Mohammad Yousuf.

Why PSL 2026 matches are currently being played without spectators

The PCB initially decided to hold the PSL 2026 in the presence of a full crowd, and the tickets were sold out too. Moreover, the matches were expanded across cities to give the audience a chance to watch their favourite players in action. However, due to the ongoing crisis in Western countries, there is an issue with fuel across Asia. Hence, the Pakistani government urged the people to stay indoors.

Due to the government's orders, PCB decided to host the matches without the spectators to make it more convenient for people to save fuel. Moreover, they also changed the venue to just Lahore and Karachi. The officials mentioned that there was not much of a crowd in other cities and hence, they decided to host the games in just two cities. The tickets were refunded to the people within 72 hours of the announcement.
