Mohammed Shami has been dragged into another controversy by his ex-wife, Hasin Jahan, as she has requested the Supreme Court to move the case from Kolkata to Delhi. She has mentioned in the petition that she is moving with her daughter to Delhi for her better education. Moreover, Delhi is closer to Shami's home, Uttar Pradesh, where his parents live.

Keeping everything in mind, she has asked the court to grant her permission to move the case. Jahan has mentioned that Shami travels throughout India to play his matches, and traveling to Delhi to attend court meetings wouldn't be much difficult for him. However, she won't be able to come to Kolkata to attend the court meetings.

"Thus, under such circumstances, compelling the petitioner to contest the cases in West Bengal, which is 1,500 kms away from Delhi, shall cause grave prejudice and hardships to the petitioner and minor daughter," the petition read.

The case was heard by a two-judge bench, including Justices Manoj Misra and Manmohan. Shami's ex-wife had filed a domestic abuse and dowry harassment case against the cricketer in 2018, and since then, this has been going on in the court. They got married in 2014 and have a daughter together.

Mohammed Shami's ex-wife demands 10 lakhs per month maintenance

The speedster's ex-wife has also requested the court to increase the monthly maintenance amount for them. Earlier, the Kolkata court had granted Hasin Rs 1.5 lakh per month for herself and Rs 2.5 lakh per month for their daughter.

However, she has asked for a higher monthly maintenance of Rs 7 lakh for herself and Rs 3 lakh for their daughter. As per the petition, Shami's annual income (from his 2021-22 Income Tax Return) is around INR 48 crores. Since he is a famous cricketer, she demands more maintenance, claiming that they are struggling to live their life.

She mentioned that their daughter is going to a local school while all the others of their stature are going to better schools. The Supreme Court is yet to receive a response from Shami. After hearing both parties, they'll come to a conclusion.
