Chennaaiii…Chennaaiiii! It was just CSK all the way. What a game! And what a superb win by Chennai Super Kings, who beat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs.
After a gap of 4 months, the first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between CSK & MI resumed at Dubai on 19th September, with CSK setting up a target of 157 runs before MI. CSK pacers bowled well and dominated the field with Dwayne Bravo with his fabulous (3/25) becoming leading wicket-taker for CSK, followed by Deepak Chahar (2/19). Initially, there was a fall down on CSK’s side but the outstanding partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad was a turning point for CSK. Gaikwad was the saviour who successfully rescued the team with his brilliant 88* off 58. Mumbai Indians kicked off with a decent start but unfortunately lost wickets very early and failed to manage the required run rate. Saurabh Tiwary, somehow managed to score fifty runs for MI but couldn’t bloom for CSK. Other batsmen failed to score more than 20 runs in the 157 chase.
Unhappy moment for Mumbai this time! Even players like Keiron Pollard and Krunal Pandya with whom fans had much expectations, couldn’t sail the boat for MI. The services of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were also missing. With this victory, CSK topped the IPL 2021 points table, while champions MI are still at fourth position. Let’s wait and witness the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore v/s Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders taking off at Abu Dhabi today at 7:30 PM IST.
