Not saying done; not saying coming back: MS Dhoni on his IPL retirement

At the end of the match, when the CSK stand-in captain MS Dhoni was asked about his IPL future, he didn't clarify anything. In the presentation ceremony, Dhoni clarified that he would make a decision on it in four or five months. He wants to give himself enough time to learn about his remaining hunger for the game, which will help him to decide his IPL future. He clearly added that neither he was done nor would he come back.

Dhoni said, "I have four or five months to decide. It's professional cricket; you have to be at your best. It's not performances. What's important is to see how much hunger you have. I have enough time to decide. I'll go back to Ranchi. I'm not saying I'm done; I'm not saying I'm coming back. I have the luxury of time."

CSK recorded their highest total in IPL 2025

After CSK captain MS Dhoni chose to bat first, they scored 230/5. Opener Devon Conway scored 52 runs, while his opening partner Ayush Mhatre and the no.3 batter Urvil Patel scored 34 and 37 runs, respectively. Later, Dewald Brevis scored 57 off 23 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja had a cameo of 21 not out.

In reply, Gujarat Titans were bowled out for only 147 runs. Anshul Kamboj (3/13) and Noor Ahmad (3/21) both ended the season with three wickets each, while Noor received the Purple Cap after the match.
