MS Dhoni briefly left the CSK training camp ahead of IPL 2026, reportedly to attend Arjun Tendulkar’s wedding in Mumbai.

In a shocking move, MS Dhoni has left the training camp of Chennai Super Kings just a few days after he joined the camp for IPL 2026. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter had reported to the camp as part of the team’s pre-season preparations. However, he suddenly departed from Chennai for personal commitments. Reports suggest he may attend a family event in Mumbai.
The IPL 2026 season will start at the end of March. The training camps for the teams have already begun. The training camp for Chennai Super Kings started on March 1. Dhoni was also seen practicing in the nets on the opening day. He spent time interacting with teammates and even shared a few light moments during the session.
Along with Dhoni, players such as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ayush Mhatre, Khaleel Ahmed, and Rahul Chahar also trained at the camp. But shortly after joining the squad, Dhoni was spotted leaving Chennai airport under heavy security. A video of his departure quickly spread on social media. According to reports, he travelled to attend the wedding of Arjun Tendulkar.
Wedding Visit and IPL 2026 Preparations
Arjun Tendulkar will be tying the knot with Saaniya Chandok on March 5 in Mumbai and the pre-wedding celebrations have already begun. Dhoni is likely to attend the ceremony along with his family, though there has been no official confirmation. He is expected to return to Chennai after participating in the celebrations.

At 44, Dhoni has confirmed he will play in IPL 2026. Chennai Super Kings retained him for ₹4 crore using the league’s uncapped player rule. After finishing last season at the bottom of the table with 10 defeats in 14 matches, the upcoming season is important for CSK as they look to rebuild and return stronger.
MS Dhoni scored 196 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2025 at a strike rate of 135.17. Dhoni played quick cameos in the lower order. Off the pitch, Dhoni recently got into a minor controversy. Dhoni was fined Rs 1,000 for speeding in Ranchi. Dhoni received an e-challan under Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act. A traffic surveillance system caught Dhoni speeding near his residence.He also reportedly received a notice from the Jharkhand State Housing Board regarding the alleged misuse of a residential plot on Harmu Road.
