Mumbai Court drops stunning verdict in Prithvi Shaw molestation case!

A Mumbai session court on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 100 on Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw for an alleged molestation case filed by social media influencer Sapna Gill. The court imposed the penalty on the cricketer as he failed to file his reply in the matter.

During the last hearing, when again, Shaw remained absent, the court warned him and asked him to submit his response by the given date. Like before, he chose not to submit the reply. So, the judge finally decided to take a step against Prithvi. 'Still, one more chance is granted for a cost of Rs 100,' was the observation of the judge before adjourning the hearing to December 16.

Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan, lawyer of Sapna Gill, made a huge allegation against the cricketer as well. He claimed that remaining silent became a deliberate attempt from the opposition side. "This has been his regular way of handling the case despite being summoned many times," the lawyer told the court.

Gill filed complaint against Shaw alleging molestation 

A controversial situation in a pub in Andheri, Mumbai, on February 15, 2023, ignited the tension between Gill and Shaw. After that, on February 17, 2023, police detained Gill and a group related to a heated moment in the pub. Later, Gill was released on bail. 

Though primary investigations suggested Gill and the group were guilty, Sapna came with a different story. According to her version, Gill and his friend Ashish Surendra Yadav invited her and Shobit Thakur for drinks at their VIP table. She further claimed that when Thakur asked for a selfie, Shaw and his friend assaulted him. Gill further claimed that, when she tried to cool down the situation, Shaw physically and sexually assaulted her. With these claims, Sapna Gill filed a complaint against Prithvi Shaw, alleging molestation.
