Mumbai Indians create history —MI break Pakistan’s world record of most T20 wickets in IPL 2026
The Mumbai Indians (MI) have created a massive history as they have broken the world record of Pakistan in terms of most T20 wickets during the IPL 2026.

The Mumbai Indians, despite going through a poor Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, have entered their name in the history books during the contest against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. They broke the world record of taking the most wickets in the T20 format.
Even though the five-time champions experienced a four-wicket defeat, the Hardik Pandya-led side was able to pick six wickets, which helped them to extend their total wicket tally to 1862 in 312 matches, as they overtook the record of the Pakistan side by four more wickets.
Mumbai Indians become the first team in IPL history to break Pakistan’s record for most wickets
The previous record of taking the most wickets in the T20s before the Mumbai franchise was held by the arch-rivals, as the Men in Green had dismissed 1858 batters in 303 T20 games played so far.
In the list of the teams with the most wickets of the shortest format, MI and Pakistan are the two sides, along with Somerset and Hampshire, to cross the 1800-wicket tally.
