Muthoot Fincorp has won the title sponsorship rights for Indian cricket for the next two years, according to a report by Cricbuzz. Sources said the deal is being referred to as “Blue Muthoot” and is understood to have been negotiated at a base price of INR 4.85 crore per match. The exact final amount is yet to be confirmed by the BCCI.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has roped in Muthoot Fincorp for the title sponsorship rights until 2028. The two-year deal will begin with India's upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, which is scheduled to start later this month. The agreement will cover India's home cricket calendar across different formats.

The Kochi-based Muthoot Group will hold the title sponsorship rights for all international and domestic matches played in India until March 31, 2028. The BCCI already has Campa, SBI Life and ChatGPT in its sponsorship portfolio for bilateral cricket series. According to reports, the final sponsorship amount could be lower than the base price of INR 4.85 crore per match, with more clarity expected after the BCCI officially announces the deal.

Muthoot Fincorp reportedly set to take over BCCI's home title sponsorship

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Muthoot Fincorp is set to become the new title sponsor for India's home cricket matches. The sponsorship is being referred to as ‘Blue Muthoot’ and has reportedly been negotiated at a base price of ₹4.85 crore per match. However, neither the BCCI nor Muthoot Fincorp has officially announced the deal yet. The outgoing title sponsor, IDFC First Bank, had paid ₹4.3 crore per match to the BCCI.

The Kochi-based Muthoot Fincorp will reportedly hold the title sponsorship rights for all international and domestic matches played in India until March 31, 2028. The deal is expected to cover around 35 home internationals during this period, including 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is.

The Cricbuzz report also stated that a new title sponsor could have been finalised earlier if the BCCI had followed a competitive bidding process. The board had reportedly held discussions with Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life before moving ahead with Muthoot Fincorp. The BCCI is yet to formally confirm the agreement.

What the deal covers: 35 home matches through March 2028

The reported deal covers around 35 home international matches during the rights period, including 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is. These matches will form the main international schedule under the sponsorship agreement, which is expected to run until March 31, 2028. However, the final sponsorship amount may change, with reports suggesting that it could be lower than the base price of ₹4.85 crore per match.

More clarity is expected once the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announces the deal. The report also stated that the title sponsor could have been finalised earlier if the BCCI had followed a competitive bidding process. The board had reportedly held discussions with Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life before finalising Muthoot Fincorp.

Earlier, on September 8, the BCCI announced Campa, SBI Life and ChatGPT as associate partners for India's home cricket for a two-season period. The partnerships will begin with India's upcoming home series against the West Indies and run until March 2028. The three deals have a combined value of more than ₹130 crore, which is 44% higher than the previous cycle, highlighting the commercial value of India's home cricket season.

What happens next as India's home season opens against West Indies

India's home season is set to begin with the upcoming series against the West Indies. The series will mark the start of the new two-year sponsorship period, which is expected to run until March 31, 2028. Muthoot Fincorp is reportedly set to take over the title sponsorship rights for India's home matches during this period.

The sponsorship will cover India's international and domestic matches played at home. The reported agreement includes around 35 home internationals, comprising 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is. However, the BCCI is yet to officially announce the Muthoot Fincorp deal and confirm the final sponsorship amount.

Until the BCCI makes an official announcement, details such as the final price and exact terms of the agreement remain subject to confirmation. The upcoming West Indies series will therefore be the first major home assignment during the reported new sponsorship cycle, with more details expected once the BCCI confirms the deal.
