Prasidh Krishna opened up about his performance in the first Test against England, he said that he didn’t bowl as well as he would have liked, especially on the final day at Edgbaston.

Though he took five wickets across both innings, his short-ball tactic ended up costing India.
While it worked briefly in the first innings, it was only when he started bowling fuller on Day 5 that he began troubling the batters. But by then, England were well on their way to chasing down a big target of 371 runs, winning the match by five wickets. This came even after four Indian batters hit centuries one scoring hundreds in both innings and Jasprit Bumrah picked up a five-wicket haul.

Reflecting on the game, Prasidh said, “In the first innings, I bowled shorter than I should have.
In the second, I improved a bit because the pitch was slower. I had to go a bit fuller to look for wickets.”

His second innings figures read 2 for 92 in 15 overs, with an economy rate of 6.13 the highest among Indian bowlers.
In the first innings, he gave away 128 runs in 20 overs.

“I didn’t bowl the lengths I wanted to. It took me some time to adjust to the slope on that side. But there’s no excuse as a professional, I should have done better.
I take full responsibility and hope to improve next time,” he said.

Talking about Day 5, Prasidh also mentioned his mindset while bowling. “Every time I came on to bowl, I was trying to bowl a maiden over. I wasn’t trying to leak runs.
But the outfield was quick, and honestly, my lines and lengths weren’t perfect. A few edges flew past the slips, some fell short. I tried some bouncers too, but they went for runs. Still, my aim was always to keep the run rate down and build pressure,” he added. Prasidh’s honest words show he’s ready to learn from his mistakes and come back stronger in the next match.
