The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad received a bomb threat via email on October 07, which prompted the authorities to increase the security checks at this venue, as the threat came when the second youth Test between India’s U-19 side and Australia’s U-19 side was going on at Ground ‘A’.
The home side went on to win the encounter against Australia by a massive margin of 10 wickets during the chase of just 11 runs in the fourth innings of the fixture. That was possible because of them bundling out the Aussies for less than 200 runs in both innings of the contest.
Bomb threat email at Narendra Modi Stadium: What we know so far
The reports have claimed that a team from the Cyber Cell made an appearance at the stadium and enquired about the mail, which threatened to disrupt the Diljit Dosanjh concert, to be held at the same ground on November 21. The reports also stated that the Ahmedabad High Court also received the same threat mails.
“We informed the local police as soon as we received the email. This has happened a couple of times earlier as well, including during the World Cup 2023 and Indian Premier League (IPL).” The Gujarat Cricket Association secretary, Anil Patel, was quoted as saying.
The security agencies examined whether the emails pointed to a real breach or formed part of a hoax designed to disrupt public life. The messages name the stadium complex directly and link the threat to the specific dates.
