Naseem Shah slapped with PCB’s biggest-ever fine over Maryam Nawaz tweet
The right-arm pacer, Naseem Shah, has been slapped with the biggest ever fine from the Pakistan Cricket Board, after his tweet over Maryam Nawaz in the PSL 2026 went viral on the social media.

The right-arm pacer of the Pakistan side, Naseem Shah, has been handed in what’s currently the largest fine in the history of Pakistan’s cricket, with the board coming hard after the pacer, who swiftly deleted the tweet from his account which appeared to have criticized the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.
Naseem was signed by the Rawalpindiz, one of the two new sides of the PSL. He has appeared to have aimed Nawaz ahead of their opening game of the event after the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, announced that the PSL would take place without the spectators due to the need to conserve fuel.
What Naseem Shah posted and why PCB took strict action
Despite the situation, several celebrities were present at the first game. Maryam is the daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, and the niece of the current Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, and was shown to arrive at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, including the players from both sides, Lahore Qalandars and the Hyderabad Kingsmen.
“Why is she treated like the Queen at Lord's?"- Naseem’s account quote-tweet the post from the PCB media before it was taken down and replaced with another post saying that it had been hacked and had been recovered by him, minutes later.
However, this hasn’t calmed down the situation at all as Naseem was found to have breached various clauses of the central contract with the PCB remaining committed to upholding professional standards, contractual obligations and the integrity of the game".

The PCB, last year, fined the all-rounder, Aamer Jamal, in excess of PSK one million for displaying a slogan showing support for the former minister and the Pakistan captain, Imran Khan, as he used ‘804, the prisoner number, on his hat during the home Test series against England last December.
