Netizens troll RCB for starting IPL 2024 with loss against CSK

The IPL 2024 started with a thrilling encounter between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The match witnessed exciting moments and significant twists that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

RCB lost quick 5 wickets, as CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman picked up 4 wickets in the IPL 2024 opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. RCB managed to score 173/6 in 20 overs. CSK chased the target with six wickets in hand.

RCB vs CSK

In the opening clash, RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat first, aiming to set a challenging target for CSK. The decision seemed promising as RCB’s top order made an aggressive start. Faf du Plessis led from the front, showcasing his batting prowess with a blazing knock of 35 runs off 23 balls. His aggressive approach pressured the CSK bowlers and set the tone for RCB’s innings.

However, Mustafizur Rahman’s brilliant delivery prematurely ended Faf du Plessis’ innings. The left-arm pacer’s dismissal of the RCB skipper shifted the momentum in CSK’s favour. An excellent spell by Mustafizur Rahman (4 for 29) sent RCB on backfoot in the match.

RCB’s Batting Collapse

Following Faf’s departure, RCB suffered a catastrophic batting collapse, losing crucial wickets in quick succession. Mustafizur Rahman’s fiery spell dismantled RCB’s middle order, exposing their vulnerability against quality bowling.

Twitter Reaction

As RCB’s batting woes unfolded, Twitter erupted with a flurry of reactions, with fans and pundits expressing their astonishment and disappointment at the team’s collapse. The collapse revived memories of RCB’s infamous batting collapses in the past, leading to the resurgence of ‘Vintage RCB’ memes on social media platforms. The memes humorously highlighted RCB’s history of faltering under pressure.

RCB’s tendency to collapse under pressure has been a recurring theme throughout the IPL seasons. The team’s inability to handle crunch situations has often resulted in heartbreaking losses and dashed hopes of lifting the IPL trophy.
