Nicolas Pooran appointed as skipper of MI franchise

Nicholas Pooran's sudden decision to retire from international cricket at only 29 shocked the entire cricket-loving base. Now, after a day, another report came about the swashbuckling Caribbean batsman. The New York setup of the MI franchise, through a social media post and a press release, has announced that they have appointed Pooran as their captain for the 2025 season, which is about to start. A cricketer at his prime, set to lead a team in Major League Cricket, is something that came out of nowhere.

In a press release, MI New York said, "This left-handed wicket-keeper batter is one of the world’s most feared batters going around." At the peak of his powers currently, he’s all set to take us to greater glories under his leadership. He was the highest run-scorer in the 2023 MLC season with 388 runs under his belt." 

Pooran's most memorable moment in Major League Cricket came when he hammered an unbeatable 137-run innings in the title-winning 2023 MLC Final. From 2024, the batter is in red-hot form. In this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he has scored 524 runs at a mind-blowing strike rate of 196.25, including five half-centuries.
