Rana smashes 63 off 33 balls for West Delhi Lions, gets emotional as umpires step in to console him

Nitish Rana reached his half-century in just 27 balls during West Delhi Lions’ innings. He completed the milestone with a boundary off the third delivery of the ninth over and then dedicated his fifty to his late mother in an emotional tribute.

Rana went on to top-score for West Delhi Lions, smashing 60 runs off 33 balls. His innings included four boundaries and six sixes. He started cautiously, scoring only seven runs from his first 10 balls, before shifting gears and adding 43 runs from his next 17 deliveries.

Despite Rana’s explosive knock, West Delhi Lions were bowled out for 169 in 19.5 overs. Anshuman Hooda was the standout bowler for South Delhi Superstarz, taking four wickets for 27 runs in 3.5 overs.

Nitish Rana continued his emotional tribute to his late mother by wearing a jersey with “N. Satish” printed on the back during the match against South Delhi Superstarz. He had also worn the same jersey during an earlier DPL 2026 match against Outer Delhi Warriors on August 13.

Rana had the option of stepping away from the tournament after his mother’s passing but decided to continue playing. After reaching his half-century, he became emotional and broke down in tears.
