Ravindra Jadeja pulled out his famous sword celebration in Edgbaston. Unlike India's last match in Headingley, the experienced Indian all-rounder has been in fine touch from Day 1 of the ongoing second of five-match Test series against England.

Jadeja was only 9 runs away from completing his 23rd fifty after the conclusion of Day 1. He achieved the mark without any trouble during the first hour of Day 2 of the 2nd Test match of the series. Before the drinks break, Jadeja was batting on an unbeaten 67 off 109 deliveries with eight boundaries coming from his bat, and Team India, after losing 5 wickets, was looking strong on 365.

The host nation found it hard to break the partnership between Jadeja and India captain Shubman Gill. The young India captain remained unbeaten for 144 runs before the drinks break, facing 254 balls. Indian cricket fans on the internet have piled praises on the 36-year-old all-rounder. Jadeja's performance came under scrutiny for India's repeated batting collapses in the lower order during the first Test in Leeds.

Gill and Jadeja built a formidable partnership in Birmingham

Former cricketers raised questions about his mindset as a batter when wickets were falling on the other end at regular intervals. In the previous assignment in Leeds, where India lost after England chased down a 371-run target with ease, Jadeja scored 11 and an unbeaten 25 runs in the first and second innings, respectively.

The scenario changed in the second Test, when he got the opportunity to build a partnership with Shubman Gill. The two together have already stitched a partnership of over 150 runs.
