United Arab Emirates captain Muhammad Waseem elected to bowl first against Afghanistan after winning the toss in the 3rd match of the one-off tournament. Afghanistan and UAE both started the series after losing against Pakistan, the team favorite to win the competition. In the previous couple of games, the surface looked dry and a heaven for spinners. In the third match too, the deck is looking not pace-friendly, and still, the UAE captain shockingly elected to bowl first. The skipper did not reveal the exact reason why he chose to field first, when the track can be more tricky during the second innings. Afghanistan did not seem unhappy after losing the toss, as they had the plan to bat first.

After losing the toss, the captain of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, said, "We will bat first and are happy that they got what they wanted to do. We do not see which opposition we are playing against; it is all about how we are going to play, and we don't want to repeat the mistakes made in the last game."

On the other side, the captain of the United Arab Emirates, Muhammad Waseem, said about his decision to bowl first, "No specific reason, but the wicket looks good, and we hope that the ball does a bit early on but not change much in the second innings. We gave away a lot of boundary balls in the last game and need to improve on that. We will be happy to restrict Afghanistan under 160."
