June 19, 2018: a nice, calm morning in Nottingham, until Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales shifted gears to the maximum for overdrive. All of a sudden, the Nottingham stadium turned into a land of pure carnage, with fours and sixes flowing all over the ground; records were shattering with ease. England, the home team, claimed nearly five hundred runs in fifty overs. Batting first, England scored 481 for 6 wickets only.
Bairstow and Hales stitched a 151-run partnership after founding a solid foundation in the first wicket as 159 on the scoreboard. Two openers—Jason Roy and Bairstow—hinted at how the morning was going to be. Roy departed for individual 82, and Jonny started a new partnership with Hales. Both the batters scored centuries; Bairstow scored 139, and Hales, the man of the match, scored 147. Captain Eoin Morgan came to bat at number five and delivered a quick 67-run innings to push the total in the summit.

Then the Australian bowling line-up with Billy Stanlake, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Agar, Glenn Maxwell, and Andrew Tye were like in front of their nightmares in broad daylight. Tim Paine, the skipper of team Australia in that match, used eight different pairs of hands in search of the formula to prevent the run flooding.
The day simply was not for Australia. In the same pitch, where England scored runs for fun, the visiting side bundled for 239 in 37 overs. Adil Rashid took 4 and 3 wickets for Moeen Ali. England won the match by 242 runs. Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis tried to show some valor with their blades, but they lost their wickets for 51 and 44, respectively.
