Pakistan avoid reporters ahead of IND vs PAK Super 4 clash in Asia Cup 2025
The Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan side has decided to avoid the reporters and skipped the press conference ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The Pakistan Cricket Team has continued their drama from the group-stage clash against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium last Sunday. On the eve of their Super 4 clash against the same opposition at the same venue, the Salman Ali Agha-led side avoided the press conference, which has shown their unprofessionalism in the game.
Generally, during any ICC or ACC events, it’s mandatory for the captains or any official member of the side to attend the press conference to give their view of their planning and preparation for the coming encounter. But for the second consecutive time in this tournament, Pakistan didn’t turn up for the press conference.
It was the same situation from their end ahead of their last group-stage fixture against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They completed their respective practice session in the ICC Academy and went back to the hotel without attending the reporters. That time, there were questions of whether they would lock horns in the game as a protest to ICC’s match referee, Andy Pycroft.

The controversy in this event started when India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, decided to refuse a handshake with Salman Agha at the toss on September 14, before continuing the same trend at the end of the game when he nailed the winning six and walked off the ground with partner Shivam Dube. The rest of the Indian players went upstairs to the dressing room and locked themselves in.
Later, PCB files a complaint against India for their ‘unsporting’ behavior, in their words. They also wrote a letter to the ICC with the demand to remove Pycroft as the match referee for the rest of the tournament. When ICC didn’t accept their proposal, they made the second demand of removing Pycroft from their clash. But the ICC hasn’t agreed on that.
Now, Pycroft will remain the match referee for September 21 when these two arch-rivals will again meet in the Super 4 stage. Pakistan lost to India coming into this position, while for the Indian side, they remained unbeaten with two successive victories ahead of the Super 4 stage.
