The star player of the Gujarat Titans (GT) from the Indian Premier League (IPL) has dropped a massive statement on the Asia Cup 2025 trophy stealing drama by the PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi.
India secured the Asia Cup 2025 title by defeating Pakistan in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, following an unbeaten campaign. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side got the better of the Pakistan side in three successive encounters, including the group-stage and Super 4 stage of the tournament. But there was a twist in the presentation ceremony.
The Indian contingent didn’t want the PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi, to hand over the trophy, which the former had escaped with. A few days later, he revealed that because he appeared to be a cartoon during the ceremony, he would now want India to come and collect the title from his office. Rahul Tewatia, the Gujarat Titans (GT) player, has commented on this entire situation.
“As far as the trophy is concerned, based on what we heard and saw, we did not get the trophy. Our players and management were waiting. We found out that the trophy wasn’t given. The players were made to wait for a long time, and the trophy was taken back. They went to play cricket and won the final.” Tewatia expressed during a recent interaction on ANI.

Despite not receiving the trophy, the Indian team’s spirits didn’t take a hit as they kept celebrating without a cup. Their photoshoot took place with an invisible trophy. It has also been reported that the Shaheen Zulfiqar Bhutto Excellence Gold Medal would be given to Naqvi for his courageous stance.
“In history, the name of the person who won the final is often recorded, regardless of whether the trophy was awarded or not. They did not give us the trophy. That’s their headache. India won the final. By taking the trophy back, the Pakistan team has not won it.” Tewatia informed.
After the end of the Asia Cup 2025, India earned a three-day victory over the West Indies side in the opening Test of the two-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The second fixture will take place on October 10 in New Delhi.
