Zimbabwe— 273/10, 174 /7 (Won by 3 wickets)

In between the craze for T20 tournaments, Zimbabwe (ZIM) created history in Test cricket by defeating Bangladesh (BAN) in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. On day 4, Zimbabwe concluded the match with a 3-wicket victory. The hard-fought match was made even more special by the bowlers of both teams. Blessing Muzarabani, ZIM pace bowler, with his mind-blowing bowling performance, took a total of 9 wickets, 3 in the first innings and 6 in the second, and a record 10-wicket haul for BAN's Mehidy Hasan Miraz, bagging 5 wickets in each innings.

The rain-interrupted contest was a close encounter, where bowlers decided the game, which is very near in the era of limited overs cricket. After the match, Bangladesh cricket touched a new low in their cricket history; in contradiction, for Zimbabwe, it was a historic event. ZIM won, and the two-match test series is now lying for them 1-0. Bangladesh must win the second test match to prevent a whitewash.

Mominul Haque and Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto were consistent in both innings with their batting performance. Haque sco

red 56 and 47 in the first and second innings, respectively, and for Shanto it was 40 and 60. In the second inning, the host team tried their level best to take as much lead as possible. But, after an in-form Muzarabani with his splendid spell, Bangladesh's hope to create a fight was gone.

4 to conceal a historic win

Zimbabwe needed only 174 runs to encrypt their heroic win. Brian Bennett and Ben Curran added 95 as an opening partnership to make the chase easier. Craig Ervine's led side faced the turbulent situation when Hasan Mahmud, with his 5, and Taijul Islam, with a brace, were very close to scattering Zimbabwe's dream to win a historic Test match.

Wessly Madhevere, in the lower middle order with cool nerve, did the needful to add a memorable chapter in the history of world cricket by smashing a boundary.
